Welcome to PetStew.com, your place for everything pets! My name is Mike, co-owner and operator, aka the guy who is on the other end of your emails to us :-)
Growing up in a home where we had everything from lizards to rats to large dogs as pets, I’ve always been an animal lover. When my family dog (Molly the English Springer Spaniel) passed away in late 2008, and my parents were ready to start looking for their next dog, my Dad discovered that he didn’t really love any of the pet websites he was finding. With my background being in computer science (University of California, Irvine class of 2004) and my passion being animals, I saw this as my chance to start a new hobby as well as help other people and more importantly the animals. So, I got together with a co-worker of mine and together in our spare time we started PetStew.com in early 2009.
We don’t have any investors or funding, and we’re not in it for the money. The idea was that we’d strive to make the largest pet website around by aggregating content from across the web. This is where the idea of the “stew” comes from: throw in a ton of adoptions, some classifieds, a few breeders and trainers, a healthy portion of photos and videos, breed information, pricing data, a random assortment of pet products, and some editorial content and you have an online pet stew. We realize it’s a lofty goal, but we really want to be the one single place you need to go for anything pets, and we’re always working towards becoming that.
This is not a formal business with an office and full time employees; we’re just two passionate guys working hard to bring you the best pet website we can in the evenings after we get home from our normal jobs. So if you find any problems with the site, or have any recommendations, feedback or advice, please drop us a line. You’re not going to get an automated response, or a response from an intern or PR department, you’re going to get a response from the people that made the site from the ground up.
I hope you find our site useful and entertaining!
